Northern Gateway Toll Road closed for maintenance work next week
The NZ Transport Agency is advising motorists that the Northern Gateway Toll Road (SH1 between the Silverdale interchange and Puhoi) will be closed in both directions next week for important maintenance work.
The closure will affect the Johnstone Hill Tunnels and toll road in both directions on the nights of
Sunday, 10th September and Monday, 11th September 2017.
The maintenance work, which is dependent on fine weather, will be carried out between the hours of10.00pm and 5.00am, when there are lower traffic volumes to minimise disruption to road users.
Motorists are asked to follow the sign posted detour routes by using the Hibiscus Coast Highway between Puhoi and the Silverdale interchange. This will add approximately 15 minutes to journeys.
This work is an important part of the maintenance programme to ensure the Johnstones Hill Tunnels and the motorway is kept in a safe and resilient condition for all road users.
The Transport Agency apologises for any inconvenience and thanks motorists for their patience during the works.
