"UPDATE: Search for missing man in Twizel"
A body was recovered this afternoon from the Pukaki Ohau Canal, near Twizel.
The discovery was made by the Police Dive Squad as part of the search for 42-year-old Twizel man David Allan Fountain.
This follows the recovery of Mr Fountain’s car from the canal late yesterday.
The body recovered today has been confirmed as being Mr Fountain.
It is believed Mr Fountain’s car has entered the canal following a single vehicle crash.
The death has been referred to the coroner.
Police offer their sympathies to the friends and family of Mr Fountain at this sad time.
