Hamilton Police investigating serious assault from overnight
Police in Hamilton are investigating a serious assault that occurred in the central business district in the early hours of this morning.
Police were called at around 3.30am in relation to an altercation between two groups that began on Hood Street.
Four males have followed the victim onto Collingwood Street where he was assaulted.
As a result of the assault a 27-year-old man was taken to Waikato Hospital with injuries to his face
A section of a carpark on Collingwood Street has been cordoned off while Police investigate.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the assault to contact the Hamilton Police on 07 8586200.
