Bishop Congratulates Hot Chocolate Champions
Earlier today Buzz Cafe was announced the winner of the 2017 “Sweet As Hutt Chocolate Challenge” competition. Organised
by Hutt City Council, the annual competition between cafes all around Lower Hutt’s CBD challenges each of them to make
the boldest sweet treat.
“I’ve really enjoyed taking part in this year’s challenge, which is a wonderful way to showcase the great cafes we have
here in the Hutt”, Mr Bishop says.
“Well done to Michael, Hillary and the team at Buzz Cafe. Their decadent Hot Chocolate Bar was delicious – although I
need to spend even more time at the gym to work it off!
“This year I managed to get to nearly all of the cafes taking part – nine of them – and every drink I had was delicious.
People on my Facebook page were really getting into the spirit of the whole event too – although some were a little
concerned about the impact on my waistline!
“Thanks again to Hutt City Council for organising this fantastic community event. It’s a great way of raising the
profile of Hutt CBD cafes and bringing in people who don’t live in the area. I’m told Buzz sold 900 of its prize-winning
hot chocolates over the two weeks, and that Muffin Break in Queensgate had a 31% increase in business during the
competition, for example,” said Mr Bishop.
The competition ran from 18 – 30 July and this year saw 13 cafes vying for the title.
