Steve Chadwick’s muddy U-turn more than welcome!
7 AUGUST 2017
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
“Well done to Rotorua Lakes Council for its U-turn on the Mayor’s decision to spend $90,000 of combined ratepayer and taxpayer money importing South Korean mud for the City’s ‘Mudtopia’ festival”, says Jordan Williams, Executive Director of the Taxpayers’ Union.
“On Thursday the Council reaffirmed the decision to spend the money, and was even threatening legal action against the Union for drawing public attending to this ridiculous proposal. Today's decision makes a very welcome turnaround”
“This common sense U-turn shows the value of taxpayer groups, and particularly the local Resident and Ratepayer Association, shining the light on how politicians waste our money.”
“As for the award for achievement and imagination - presented by Porky the Waste-Hater last week - Steve is welcome to keep it.”
