UPDATE - investigation into Fairlie, South Canterbury death
Please attribute to Inspector David Gaskin, Area Commander for Mid-South Canterbury:
Police have now established that the death of Michael Andrew Phillips in Fairlie last week was not suspicious.
Mr Phillips was found deceased near the Opihi Riverbed on Tuesday August 1, with his car nearby.
Following extensive enquiries, Police will be referring the death to the coroner.
Police are thankful for the support and assistance received from the Fairlie community while carrying out the inquiries into the circumstances of Mr Phillips' death.
