"Arrest following execution of search warrants in Napier"
Hawke’s Bay Police made one arrest today following the execution of two search warrants in Napier in relation to the supply of synthetic cannabis.
A 50-year-old man was arrested and will appear in the Hastings District Court tomorrow on charges of possession of a non-approved psychoactive substance for the purpose of sale, unlawful possession of a restricted weapon, possession of cannabis seeds and driving whilst forbidden.
“Police will continue to target the sellers of these products as their client base are often disaffected and vulnerable.
These substances are extremely dangerous and users can experience severe health issues,” said Detective Sergeant Craig Vining.
As well as being dangerous to people’s health, we know that the use of these products are a driver of crime with users committing crimes to fund their habits, causing further harm to the community.
“I would hope that today’s warrants and arrest will have other dealers looking over their shoulders because we know there are more out there looking to profit from these users misery,” said Detective Sergeant Vining.
Anyone with information concerning the sale of synthetics is asked to contact Hawke’s Bay Police on 06 831 0700 or anonymously via CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111.
