Update 6, 1 May 2017: Manawatu Gorge Slips
The NZ Transport Agency says work on clearing the large Manawatu Gorge road slip is progressing well with contractors removing more slip material today.
Transport Agency Highway Manager Ross I’Anson says Pahiatua Track and the Saddle Road are alternative routes for motorists, before the gorge reopens on the expected date of 18 May.
Drivers are being reminded by electronic signage to take extra care as they drive through Ashhurst, with children being back at school.
People can check the latest information on highway conditions, delays and closures at www.highwayinfo.govt.nz (external link) or by calling 0800 4 HIGHWAYS (0800 44 44 49).
