State Highway 6

Severe rain on the West Coast overnight has caused flooding and slips. The NZ Transport Agency closed State Highway 6 between Ross and Haast before 8 amtoday with an update around 10 am. “The highway is not likely to be open to a single lane this morning given the multiple slips and flooding,” says Transport Agency Regional Performance Manager Pete Connors.

The rain is forecast to ease about 11am.

State Highway 73 Arthur’s Pass/ Otira

The existing slip at Deception Point, the lower Otira Gorge, on State Highway 73, is also affected by the rain, however crews are managing to maintain a schedule of hourly highway openings at the top of each hour. Drivers should expect delays.

State Highway 1 south of Christchurch closed due to serious crash, Templeton

The Transport Agency has closed the main highway south of the city today at Templeton after a serious crash. Check the map for updates on when this is opened and CTOC (Christchurch Transport Operations Centre or Transport for Christchurch ) updates.
