Ward water back on
Marlborough District Council has stepped in to assist the community of Ward to re-establish its water supply.
Eight new, high-quality 30,000 litre tanks, each weighing 450kg (nearly half a ton) were installed yesterday by helicopter, as a brisk Southerly came through the area.
Marlborough District Council will cover the cost of approximately $34k from its emergency reserves. This covers the new tanks and pipes, while any on-property costs for Ward residents can be met by EQC and private insurance.
The Ward water scheme is shared by 70 households, and also supplies livestock in the area.
