"Helicopter crash in Central Otago "
Police were called to assist emergency services at a helicopter crash this morning on the Luggate-Tarras Road between Jolly Road and Bells Road.
The crash happened at about 4:30am.
A man in his 60s, the pilot, the only occupant of the helicopter, walked away from the crash suffering moderate injuries.
He was initially takekn to Wanaka Hospital but is currently in Dunstan Hospital receiving treatment.
The pilot was thought to be frost-fighting at the time.
The Civil Aviation Authority will be investigating.
