"Paeroa stabbing-update"
A 28 year-old male was arrested early this morning in relation to a stabbing in Paeroa last night.
He was located a short distance from where the stabbing took place.
Detective Sergeant Terri Wilson says he is very pleased that the man was apprehended without causing further harm to himself or anyone else.
The arrested man assisted police with their enquiries overnight and appeared in the Hamilton District Court this morning charged with wounds with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He has now been remanded in custody and is due to reappear on Tuesday.
The victim was repeatedly stabbed by the offender following an argument.
His injuries include a punctured lung and condition is serious but stable in Waikato Hospital.
Waikato Police wish to thank the public for their assistance throughout the enquiry.
