Man found seriously injured near car fire in Wainuiomata
Police are appealing for information following a car fire in Wainuiomata this morning.
Officers were called to reports of a vehicle on fire at a car park on Coast Road, at about 5.30am on Tuesday 11 October, 2016.
When they arrived, they found a man with serious head injuries and burns near a black Holden Cruze, which was well alight.
The man was flown to Wellington hospital, where his condition is described as serious but stable.
Police believe some of his injuries may not be related to the fire and are investigating.
Officers would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the Holden Cruze -registration JSW312 - in the Wellington area over the past 24 hours, particularly around Wainuiomata and Lower Hutt.
