Road maintenance to resume across Northland

Warmer, drier weather means road maintenance to resume across Northland

Road crews will be highly visible on Northland’s roads again this month as the NZ Transport Agency resumes its work to make the regions highways safer and more resilient.

“Warmer and drier temperatures are ideal for carrying out road works which means crews can start their summer safety and maintenance programme,” says Tim Crow the Transport Agency’s Northland Safety and Network Performance Manager.

Road users are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys because the work will mean lane closures and speed restrictions on some routes.

“We ask motorists to take extra care and slow down through road works and respect the reduced speed limits because we want to keep all road users and work crews safe.”

Works starting in September and October include:
State Highway 12 Parore – The road will be repaired and resurfaced. Work will get underway on 19 September and is expected to take four weeks to complete. A single lane will be closed to traffic during the work, and speed restrictions will be in place.

State Highway 12 Kai Iwi Lakes - The road will be repaired and resurfaced. The work starts19 September and is expected to take four weeks. There will be a single lane closure and speed reductions throughout the works.

State Highway 1 Mountfield Road/Uretiti Campground – Right turning bays will be installed to make it safer for vehicles turning from the state highway into both Mountfield Road and the Uretiti Beach campground. The work will begin on 3 October and is expected to take around three weeks.

State Highway 12 Whakapirau Road – The road will be repaired and resurfaced. The improvements will get underway on 17 October and are expected to be completed in four weeks.
