Maintenance work may impact motorists using Northern
Motorway
The NZ Transport Agency is advising motorists they may be affected by maintenance work on the Northern Motorway between Oteha Valley Road and Silverdale starting on Monday 29 August.
Parts of the highway will be resurfaced and improvements will be made to line marking to ensure it is kept in safe condition for all road users.
On Monday 29 August the on and off ramps to the BP Service Station (and other shops) will be closed so they can be resurfaced. This will be from 9.00pm until 5.00am.
During the evening of the 5th and 6th of September the northbound lanes of the motorway will be resurfaced.
One lane will remain open to traffic during the work on Monday (5 September) night but the motorway will be closed to both northbound lanes from 9.00pm on Tuesday (6 September) until 5.00am on Wednesday (7 September).
The detour will be via Dairy Flat Highway. Motorists are asked to follow the detour signs.
Please note this work is weather dependent, if it cannot be carried out on the above dates, it will be carried out the following available night.
The Transport Agency says drivers travelling north on State Highway 1 should make sure they have enough fuel to get to the next available service station.
