Hurricanes an inspiration to whole Wellington region
Greater Wellington Regional Council Chair and former All Black Chris Laidlaw says resounding congratulations are due to the Hurricanes for their fantastic showing at Westpac Stadium at the weekend.
“On Saturday night, at the most successful regional stadium in the country, the Hurricanes earned every ounce of the support they get from the Wellington region. The team really came of age on the night, by virtue of the fact that they played not just for each other but for their region as a whole,” he said.
“Saturday’s result reinforces what can be achieved by working together. The stunning Hurricanes success can be replicated in so many other ways by our regional community – in creating greater economic and social wellbeing, in building environmental integrity and future-proofing our infrastructure – but only if we work together as a region.
“It certainly sends a strong message to all of our councils about what can be achieved by more effective collective cooperation,” Mr Laidlaw said.
