Investigation continues into discovery of body in Hamilton
Waikato Police are continuing their investigation into the discovery of a man’s body found in a cardboard bale at a Hamilton recycling business yesterday.
Detective Inspector Hywel Jones says the post mortem examination of the man is still underway in Auckland.
“At this point we haven’t been able to confirm the man’s identity and age, and the post mortem examination isn’t expected to be finished for several hours yet.
In addition to this examination we have a number of enquiries underway seeking to confirm the man’s identity.
At this stage we are still treating his death as unexplained,” says DI Jones.
“We’re continuing a scene examination today at Oji Fibre Solutions where the man’s body was found, and the site remains under Police guard.
We’d like to extend our thanks to the company for their cooperation as this process continues ” he says.
A further update will be provided when any additional information is confirmed, possibly later today.
