"Police seek witnesses to a Tauranga firearms incident "
Police are seeking information relating to the shooting of a 22-year-old man yesterday in Tauranga.
The man arrived at Tauranga Hospital at approximately 6:30pm last night with a gunshot wound from a .22 calibre rifle.
His injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Police are seeking witnesses or any further information relating to the shooting.
Media reports that the incident occurred in Henderson Crescent at this stage appear to be incorrect.
Inquiries into the circumstances of the incident are continuing.
Police urge anyone with information to contact Tauranga Police Station on 07 577 4300.
Alternatively information can be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
