Revealed: Cost of Auckland Council Sky TV Subscriptions

The Auckland Ratepayers’ Alliance is calling on Auckland Council to tighten its belt after data released by the New Zealand Taxpayers’ Union shows the Council spent nearly $50,000 in the last financial year on Sky TV subscriptions.

Ratepayers’ Alliance spokesperson, Carmel Claridge, says:
“We're not quite sure what sort of work in backroom offices Len Brown and his bureaucrats are doing that requires $48,000 of ratepayer money being spent on Sky TV, but we can be fairly certain it won't have much to do with core Council business."

“Rather than delivering essential services in a cost effective manner, here we have found Auckland Council spending almost $50,000 of ratepayers’ money on Sky TV.”

“Instead of wasting money on subscription TV services, the Council needs to be tightening its belt and running a more efficient ship. Ratepayers deserve better.”
