People’s Choice candidate selections for Christchurch
Selection of Vicki Tahau Paton for the Central Ward and Yani Johanson for the Linwood Ward
The People’s Choice is pleased to announce that it has selected Vicki Tahau Paton for the Central Ward for the Council elections, and Jake McLellan and Una O’Grady for the Community Board.
Vicki Tahau Paton says “I’m excited to be standing in Christchurch Central. This is the ward with the most amazing potential in the city, and I want to help enable the residents and businesses of the central city unlock that potential”.
“It’s more than just the CBD — it’s also home to some of the most wonderful, diverse communities of residents, from the “West End” to Addington, Sydenham, and inner Linwood.”
“My motto in business has always been “solutions, not promises”, and I want to take that attitude into the Council Chamber.”
“I’m running with the People’s Choice because as a small business owner, I know how important a strong team with shared values is. The People’s Choice values of team work, social justice, and integrity made it a no-brainer.”
“The core issues I will be campaigning on are our Social challenges in particular the need for stronger support in our mental health sector, affordable and safer housing, I can offer an open channel of communication and strong broad shoulders of support to our communities in the imple-mentation for changes ahead that our council has laid the foundations for.
In the Linwood Ward, the
People’s Choice has selected Councillor Yani Johanson for
the Council, and Community Board member Brenda Lowe Johnson
and Jackie Simons for the Community Board in
Linwood.
Biographies
Vicki Tahau Paton has owned her own real estate business for the last four years, she comes from a background of sales and management for national and international companies, she has also worked for our National Airline, this experience has not limited her ability to communicate with a wide cross-section of our community. She is on the board of Tuwharetoa ki Otautahi, was recently on the Male Surviours of Sexual Abuse Trust Board and has been a past president of Canterbury Woman’s Rugby.
Yani Johanson is in his third term as councillor for the Hagley-Ferrymead ward. Previously, he was on the Hagley-Ferrymead community board.
