Witnesses sought - Man assaulted by large group in Nelson suffers serious facial injuries"

Approximately 3.00am Sunday 29th May 2016 a man was walking home alone through the Nelson CBD.
He was confronted at the corner of Bridge and Rutherford Streets by a group of 6-10 people, both males and females, who were walking from the opposite direction.
He was then set upon by the group in a prolonged assault where he was knocked unconcious.
During the assault he received a fractured upper left cheek bone and has been flown to Wellington Hospital for corrective surgery.
