WREDA leadership team has right mix for success, says Chamber
The leadership team picked to work with Wellington Regional Economic Development Agency CEO Chris Whelan has the right mix of skill and experience to do the job that needs to be done, says Wellington Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive John Milford.
“This is a real good mix – three external appointments to go with four internal appointments and all with impressive CVs and proven records in their fields.
“There’s some great passion for Wellington and knowledge of what the region needs to progress, and we’re expecting big things of them. They complement WREDA’s Board, which has an undeniable pedigree for getting things done.
“The leadership team has been a while coming but it’s been worth waiting for.
“Now WREDA have to get moving. They need to take a high-level strategy and develop an operational plan and take everyone with them – business, the councils, the educators, tech and creative, the events people, tourism, and whoever else they need to take our economy forward. Business will certainly be there.
“Their strategy must have economic growth at its heart because if they get that right then everything else will follow.
“I’m expecting them to be brave in the things they try, and if they are then we will all be the winners.”
