New Metlink website launching on 10 October
Public transport journeys around greater Wellington are set to get even easier with the launch of Metlink’s new website
on Saturday 10 October.
The new website - metlink.org.nz - will put real time transport information at passengers’ fingertips so people can
easily plan and adjust their journeys. The new website works across desktops, tablets and smartphones, replacing
existing Metlink desktop and mobile websites.
Metlink is the network of bus, train and harbour ferry services planned and funded by Greater Wellington Regional
Council.
Key new features of the website will make it simpler and quicker to plan journeys around the Wellington region. Users
will be able to:
• create a My Metlink account to get the personalised travel information, including favourite stops and routes, and any delays and changes
• use locate to find a particular train or bus and watch its journey on a map in real time
• use plan to plot a point to point journey on an interactive map with real time information on Metlink’s available services, trip
times, and fare information
• access more up-to-date and easy to locate information about any service updates, delays and disruptions –
something passengers have been asking Metlink for.
The new site has been robustly tested with users, with 85 per cent of them rating the site better or much better than
the current site. Respondents also reported that it was easier to find and load the information they needed on the new
site and they found the look and feel much improved.
Metlink invites website visitors to share their feedback on the new site so they can make sure it is best meeting users’
needs.
Next up, Metlink is working on improved iPhone and Android apps to continue to make travel in the Wellington region
easier.
