Tūtira Regional Park Closed This Week
Tūtira Regional Park and the campground will be closed for a week and perhaps longer.
Hawke’s Bay Regional Council staff have confirmed that the access causeway between Tūtira and Waikapiro Lakes is flooded and it will be at least three weeks before the lake returns to normal levels.
The Park closure is to ensure visitor safety and prevent damage to the access road.
The lake level rose after prolonged rain in the area last week. Ground conditions will be also boggy for some time.
A sign informs visitors of the closure and a chain is across the causeway at the main entrance.
Visitors can still get through the main entry by State Highway 2 to the parking area and wildlife reserve. Drivers are reminded to take care as some ground will be boggy.
