Two women have been charged with possession of ammunition following a search warrant at a Karaka Street property in central Auckland this morning.
Officers from Auckland Central Police, assisted by the AOS, executed the warrant just before 6am this morning.
A search of the property uncovered around 375 rounds of varying ammunition inside the address and a further 7 shotgun rounds were found parked in a car outside.
“How and why the women have come to have this ammunition, and so much of it, is something that we’ll be looking at closely and investigations into this will be ongoing” says Inspector Matt Srhoj, Auckland Central Police.
A 41 year-old woman has been charged with possession of the ammunition that was found inside the property and will appear in the Auckland District Court on Wednesday 23 September.
A 21 year-old woman has been charged in relation to the ammunition found in the car and will appear in the Auckland District Court on Thursday 24 September.
