All Hunua parks open following pest operation
All parklands and Department of Conservation tracks in the Hunua Ranges are open following the application of toxic 1080 bait to block one of the pest control operational area.
Visitors to the parks are reminded to observe safety signs at all times and not to touch any baits they may encounter. Dog owners are advised to avoid taking dogs into the area until the caution period is over and warning signs are removed – this will be some months away.
The final stage of the programme, applying toxic 1080 bait to block two of the operational area, is expected to commence in the next 7-10 days, depending on the weather, and will include further park closures.
For more information about the Hunua pest control project, including park closure details, see www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/hunuaproject or phone 09 301 0101.
