10 February 2015

FIFA U-20 World Cup New Zealand 2015

Tonight’s announcement of the teams which will play in Dunedin in the FIFA U-20 World Cup New Zealand 2015 tournament will spark football fever in the city.

Dunedin will host Mexico, Uruguay, Serbia, an African qualifier, Colombia and Portugal when their teams play in the city in May and June.

Knowing almost all the teams which are coming to Dunedin will really build excitement levels. We can’t wait to host the rising talents of international football at our world class Otago Stadium.

More than 300 people attended the official draw in Auckland tonight, including in excess of 140 FIFA and qualified team personnel. The draw was broadcast live to more than 100 million people.

The managers of the teams which will be playing in Dunedin are touring the Otago Stadium on Thursday as part of a visit to the city.

Dunedin always gets behind big events and we are looking forward to hosting the teams and their supporters, and the many people from across the region who will come to Dunedin to see these games.
