Sign Between the Flags
The iconic Surf Life Saving flags will be flying high for the first time at Mission Bay on Saturday the 11th of October, as dozens of lifeguards call for beachgoers to Sign Between the Flags.
The Surf Life Saving Northern Region (SLNSR) event will herald the start of the 2014/15 lifesaving season and celebrate the incredible work of their surf lifeguards.
SLSNR invites Auckland beachgoers to come meet their Lifeguards, and to participate in a number of fun games their sponsor Harcourts is putting on.
“This is a chance for the community to come out and show their appreciation for the men and women who volunteer their time to patrol the beaches,” says of Surf Life Saving Northern Region Chief Executive Pam Elgar.
The 1300 lifeguards from the 17 Surf Life Saving Northern Region clubs will deliver approximately 80,000 hours of patrol this summer.
“We think it’s particularly important for our younger lifeguards to be involved in an event like this so they can understand how important their role is over the summer.”
Sign Between the Flags will begin at 11:00am and run until 1:00pm. It will include a number of fun activities for the public, as well as give them the opportunity to pledge their support for the organisation over the summer.
