Fatal crash - update
Monday, 29 September 2014 - 3:35pm
Police confirm that the fatal crash shortly before 12.30pm today involved an articulated truck and trailer and a cyclist. The cyclist, in his 30's, was found deceased at the scene.
Investigations by Canterbury's Serious Crash Unit are ongoing into the cause of the crash but initial indications are that cyclist and truck have collided when the truck turned left onto Waterloo Road.
Waterloo Road is closed eastbound from SH1 Carman Road and lanes on the Carman Road southbound approach to the intersection are reduced. Traffic is moving very slowly and Police ask that members of the public avoid the area for the next few hours.
The death has been referred to the Coroner.
No more details relating to the deceased man will be released until the next of kin have been informed.
