Police have arrested a 50-year-old man in relation to a kidnapping incident in Whangarei last month.
The man has been charged with aggravated robbery and kidnapping and will appear in the Whangarei District Court tomorrow.
On the morning of August 18 a 33-year-old woman was parked in the Laurie Hall car park when a man allegedly threatened her with a knife and then forced her to drive around Whangarei before leaving her in the car in the Town Basin.
Detective Sergeant Shane Pilmer said police were very pleased to arrest the man today following a very thorough investigation conducted by Whangarei staff.
“It has been a very traumatic time for the victim and this result also provides reassurance to members of the public that police will act with urgency in resolving serious crimes such as this.”
