“Lazy” Marathon Runner Visits Dunedin
Dunedin (Thursday, 4 September 2014) - Australian marathon runner and weight loss myth buster Marie Bean is coming to Dunedin to complete in the Cadbury Dunedin Marathon - the 15th in her quest to run a marathon on seven continents. With six runs down, her sights will soon be set on Antarctica.
A running coach who penned her first book, Lazy Runner, after 25 years of running injury-free, Ms Bean places emphasis on fun, good training and safety when it comes to travelling and running. Her Lazy Runner clubs in Australia offer programmes for all ages and fitness levels.
Having toured Australia and the UK over the past two years, Ms Bean will speak at the Dunedin City Library on Saturday 13 September to present her humorous perspective on how to be fit and healthy for life… the lazy way.
While her mother says she was born “lazy”, Ms Bean says, “I use my laziness in a positive way – if that makes sense! I know the rules and lifelong benefits of staying fit and healthy and in a recommended weight range - but I figure you can do that the hard, complicated way, or the easy ‘lazy’ way like I’ve done all my adult life.”
Ms Bean’s latest publication, Lazy Loser, motivates readers to get in shape by avoiding dieting, exploding the many assumptions shrouding the food, dieting, fitness and weight loss world.
“This book is for anyone who is sick of obsessing about their weight and food. And for people who like the idea of getting some tips and advice without being hit over the head with food science and exhausting exercise routines.”
