The 'Shoplifting Expo' held in Kerikeri recently has paid dividends.
Following the expo, which looked at prevention initiatives and detection techniques, a business in Waipapa recognised some shoplifters yesterday and called police
A 22-year-old man and 35-year-old woman have been charged with multiple shoplifting offences and a burglary in Kaikohe where a quad bike was stolen.
The pair has been remanded in custody to appear in the Kaikohe District Court today.
Far North Area Prevention Manager Senior Sergeant Chris McLellan says this result came about due to some excellent work done by the business in Waipapa.
"This arrest shows that the 'Shoplifting Expo' has already paid dividends and we've had some great feedback from businesses thanking us for supporting them in preventing this crime."
