“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the people involved on the night of the crash that killed Christine Fairweather, a much loved wife, mother, and grandmother.
The Police who came to the house and attended the scene, the Victim Support Staff, Kelly, Malcolm & Bill at Hardings thanks for the respect you showed.
Also to all those who have sent cards, baking and showed us how incredibly loved and respected Christine was thank you.
As a family we are still struggling to accept that this has happened and would deeply appreciate a time of calm so that we can grieve and come to terms with things.
The consequences of the actions of the person or people that placed the roadwork framing on the road are long reaching, not only is our family dealing with loss and shock but we also understand that the driver of the car and his family must be grieving too.
Please allow this process to happen with dignity for all. We would like to allow the police investigation time to go ahead with the hope of an outcome that would bring some closure.
We ask media to respect our request for privacy at this difficult time and we do not wish to conduct any media interviews.”
