State Highway 36 Tauranga To Ngongotaha open to one lane
The NZ Transport Agency wishes to advise that State Highway 36 between Tauranga and Rotorua is now open to one lane at Awahou. There is traffic management in the area and drivers are asked to take extreme care.
The highway was closed to light traffic earlier this morning due to flooding. Contractors have been monitoring the water levels in the area and will continue to do so throughout the day, as more rain is expected.
State Highway 29 between Tauranga to Te Poi, over the Kaimai Range, is also experiencing some surface flooding although the road is open in both directions.
The Transport Agency asks that drivers take extra care when travelling today, to reduce their speed and increase their following distances.
