Weather warning
Heavy rainfall is expected for the Coromandel and western Bay of Plenty with about 70 to 90mm falling overnight.
Peak intensities could reach 10 to 20mm/hr in possible thunderstorms early tomorrow morning.
What you need to do:
Make sure anything affected by possible flooding is out of harm's way before this evening just in case.
• Make sure your mobile devices are fully charged in case of localised power outages.
• Watch out for streams, because these can rise suddenly.
If your life or property is endangered at any point overnight, call 111 immediately.
For issues relating to sewage, drinking water and roading, call our Customer Services team on 07 868 0200. Teams will be on shifts to handle any calls throughout the night.
Please feel free to tell us how things are where you live and see how everyone else is getting on around the Coromandel by checking in with us on Facebook: www.facebook.com/ThamesCoromandelDistrictCouncil
What would you do if...?
When we have weather issues, it's a good time to ask ourselves 'what would I do if:'
• I had no power for 72 hours (three days)?
• I had no water pump for 72 hours?
• I had no oven or microwave for 72 hours?
• I was stuck at home and couldn't get to the supermarket for three days?
