Stabbing investigation
The 45 year-old man hospitalised after suffering a stab wound to the chest at about 1.25 this morning is reported to be recovering after surgery in Auckland Hospital.
Auckland City Police are investigating the Commodore Drive, Lynfield, incident and are following some encouraging lines of inquiry.
It is unclear what the circumstances leading up to the man's injury were or whether others were involved although there have been reports he was in the company of two men prior to the incident being reported, initially to ambulance services.
The knife used in the incident has been recovered and a scene examination at the address where the stabbing occurred has been completed.
