Crash on Icy Roads

Taupo-based poice are at the scene of a crash on SH1 at Hatepe, about 10kms south of Taupo. The crash was reported at 5.00a.m.
One car is on it's roof. Three occupants are uninjured and a fourth is awaiting assessment by ambulance staff.
Police consider at this stage that black ice may have been a contributing factor in the crash and report that sections of the highway in the area are quite treacherous.
Taupo Police ask that motorists drive with caution and watch for ice.
Roading contractors have been advised and will be gritting sections of highway.
