Behind the Hedges set to return next March
8 August 2014
Horowhenua's popular country lifestyle trail Behind the Hedges is set to return next March.
After a one year break, the event which showcases lifestyle properties throughout the District is to be held on Sunday
15 March.
It will again raise funds for Te Takere Horowhenua Culture and Community Centre, but this time proceeds will also go to
Koputaroa School to redevelop its playground.
Event co-organiser and Koputaroa School Parent Teacher Association chairperson Jenny Warren says the previous organisers
did a fantastic job, with tickets selling out for both 2012 and 2013 events and raising a total of $43,000 for Te
Takere.
"Also, almost half the visitors came from outside the district, including Wellington, Kapiti, Manawatu, Wanganui, and
even Hawkes Bay. Horowhenua can only benefit from all these people seeing and experiencing what a wonderful lifestyle
the District can offer," Mrs Warren said.
"That's what Behind the Hedges aims to do - surprise, delight and inspire people."
Mrs Warren says the event's name came about as most of the properties on the trail are hidden from the road and unseen
by the public.
"Horowhenua offers some of the best lifestyle living in the country and we want to share it - and show it off."
Mrs Warren says the popularity of Behind the Hedges is well-proven, with all 500 tickets for the 2012 trail selling out
and all 750 tickets in 2013 being sold.
She says anyone interested in supporting the event through donations or sponsorship is welcome to contact organisers by
emailing pta@koputaroa.school.nz
