Ruakura re-zoning decision delivers hope
The interim decision of the Board of Inquiry giving interim approval for the re-zoning of land at Ruakura represents a transformative opportunity for Waikato business, says Kim Campbell, chief executive of the Employers and Manufacturers Association.
“The decision means sanity has prevailed in the meantime,” Mr Campbell said.
“A green light for the Tainui/Chedworth project would secure the future for many jobs in the Waikato.
“In fact the scale of it would position the Waikato to develop as one of the world’s big agricultural hubs.
“Though the re-zoning from ‘rural’ to ‘employment and residential’ uses is just a first step, the ambition of the project represents the type of visionary thinking New Zealand needs much more of.”
