Homicide investigation underway following death of 26 year-old man in Massey
At around midnight last night Police were called to Don Buck Road in Massey, following reports that a group of people were fighting.
Police and Ambulance arrived and found a 26 year-old seriously injured man. He was treated by paramedics in the ambulance, but died on the way to hospital. The death is being treated as a homicide.
The victim has been named as Connor Morris, of Massey.
Mr Morris' family are being supported by Police and Victim Support. They have advised that they do not wish to be contacted by media.
At this stage it appears that the initial fight broke out as a group of people who had left a party walked past a group of people who were at another party on Don Buck Road. Enquiries into what sparked the fight and the exact number of people involved are ongoing.
A large team of Police are working on the enquiry and a forensic scene examination has been underway since the early hours of the morning. A specialist Police search team are assisting in the search for items of interest. Police are also conducting an area canvass which involves officers making door to door enquiries with neighbours in the surrounding areas.
Detective Inspector Greg Cramer, Waitemata Police, says "We're in the process of speaking with a large number of people who were in the area at the time, but anyone who may have information that can help us is asked to call the Henderson Police. If you wish to be anonymous you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
