Christchurch unexplained death update
Friday, 1 August 2014 - 1:39pm
Canterbury
Christchurch Police are continuing to complete investigations into the death of a male in his 70's at a North New Brighton address which occurred yesterday morning.
A post mortem has been carried out this morning and Police are awaiting the results of that, however nothing new evidentially has arisen from that post mortem to raise any concerns that the cause of death may have been suspicious.
The scene examination has been completed, and investigators are completing the final interviews of relevant parties.
The circumstances leading up to the death, and what the actual cause of death was, are still being investigated and are not likely to be confirmed until the results of the post mortem and toxicology tests are known, which may be some weeks away.
Detective Inspector Murton is not available for further comment at this time.
