Crash victim named

Police can now release the name of the youth who died in a head-on collision on State Highway 2, Mangamutu, 5 kilometres south of the Pahiatua Township yesterday evening.
He was Cheyenne Ihaka, aged 16, of Eketahuna.
Officer are continuing to speak to witnesses to piece together the events leading up to the crash.
The 37-year-old female driver of the Mazda vehicle remains in a serious condition and the 17-year-old male passenger of the Ford vehicle remains in a moderate condition in the Palmerston North Hospital.
The crash investigation is ongoing and the death has now been referred to the Coroner.
