Death on Mount Cook
Wednesday, 16 July 2014 - 4:25pm
At around 12.18 pm today police were advised a male had fallen approximately 30 – 40 metres down a crevasse on the Grand Plateau on Mount Cook. The man, a 44 year old Australian, died as a result of the fall. He was one of a party of ten people.
His body has been recovered and has been flown back to the Mount Cook Emergency Service Centre. The Police are in the process of advising the next of kin. The matter has been referred to the Coroner
