Mid-winter Christmas at Thursday night market supports food bank
Local residents and visitors are being encouraged to donate a can of tinned food at Rotorua Night Market’s mid-winter
Christmas appeal in support of the Salvation Army food bank.
The event on Thursday (17 July) is sponsored by Red Stag Timber and supported by St Chads Charitable Trust.
Rotorua Night Market manager, Brigitte Nelson, said while there will be a festive theme to the evening, complete with
snow and a Christmas tree, the purpose of the event is to fill the food banks at the Salvation Army.
“Many in our community struggle during the winter months trying to put enough food in their cupboards for their
families. Christmas is a time for giving so let’s have a mid-Winter Christmas and help those in our community who most
in need by bringing a can or two to the night market.
“Santa and his elves will be there to lend a hand and food stall holders have come on board by including festive bites
to their menus. The St Chads community has created placemats for the evening’s long, themed dining tables. They’ll also
be running a Christmas decoration workshop for anyone to enjoy, and a North Pole post box will be available for sending
letters to Santa.”
