The search for missing local hunter, Corey Aaron Stephens in the Wanganui River area south of Hokitika has been scaled back and will focus on the lower stretches of the river.
The search effort to date has failed to located any sign of Mr. Stephens except for two personal items being located in the Wanganui River. The second item being a distinctive hat.
Concerns were raised on Sunday after he failed to return from a week long hunting trip from which he was due out Friday 27th June. Several land search and rescue teams have scoured the valley and a swift water rescue team had also been deployed on the main Wanganui River.
Mr Stephens had hired a personal locator beacon which has not been activated.
