Port Talk launched in Lyttelton
Christchurch City Councillor Andrew Turner officially opens Port Talk
On Saturday (28 June) Port Talk was launched in the main street of Lyttelton.
The port-run information centre is a place where the community can find out more about the Port’s recently released 30 year vision and give feedback.
Andrew Turner Christchurch City Councillor representing the Banks Peninsula ward cut a ribbon to mark the official opening. The event was attended by over 30 people including, Port Hills MP Ruth Dyson, Councillor Jimmy Chen, community members of the Port Liaison Committee and Lyttelton Port chief Peter Davie.
“We are really looking forward to hearing what the community has to say about the Port’s vision. We’ve had some fantastic feedback so far and are having some great discussions with people who are really interested in being part of the process.” said Peter Davie.
“I’m really pleased to hear Peter talking about engagement with the community and consultation. This represents an opportunity for the community to really have their say on what is planned for the rebuild and redevelopment of the port that directly affects the community,” said Andrew Turner
“I want to encourage the community to engage with the process.”
The centre was visited by a steady stream of locals on Saturday with over 150 people calling in. Port Talk opening times are advertised in local media and its staffed by senior port people.
