Rotorua Energy Trustee Term remains the same
The Rotorua Trust announced in February that it would seek community feedback about Trustee term of office by way of an independent survey undertaken by APR Consultants.
The survey which had a sample size of 1,000 Rotorua residents, revealed that 51% of those surveyed were in favour of Trustee term limits.
The Trust Deed, which was adopted in 1994, does not outline any term limit for Trustees elected to the Trust. At present, Trustees are elected by the community to the Trust at a triennial election. At the end of each term they can choose to make themselves available for re-election.
Trust Chairman Grahame Hall said “Trustees have discussed the introduction of a term limit for a number of years and this matter was discussed again at a recent meeting of Trustees”.
“After reviewing the survey results the majority of Trustees were of the view that there was not significant support for any change and accordingly there would be no alteration to the Trust Deed in relation to Trustee terms of office at this time, however, this matter will be reviewed again in the future” he said.
