All weather warnings lifted in Coromandel
9:30am All weather warnings have been lifted.
The Thames Valley Emergency Operating Centre deactivated 13/06/2014 09:00.
Heavy rainfall experienced since Tuesday 10/06/2014 to 12/06/2014 across the Thames Valley elevating river levels of all
rivers. Kauararenga and Waihou rivers close to record high levels with some properties flooded in Te Aroha. Strong winds
across the Coromandel and Eastern Waikato brought down trees and power lines and damaged some houses.
Rivers
Waihou River at Te Aroha peaked at 11.54m 12/06/2014 6.10pm – highest recorded river level 11.72 in 1976 13/06/2014 @
0810 level 11.268
Karangahake – Ohinemuri River peaked at 15.368m yesterday at 4:55 p.m. The level at 8:15 this morning was 13.701m.
Kauraeranga River peaked at 11.8 m Wednesday (highest recorded 12.18 1985). The recorded level at 8:15am was 6.734m.
Flood Risk
The river level is dropping and the flood risk to properties has been lifted.
Property Damage
Te Aroha
10/06/2014 – Te Aroha 2 house roof lifted
Properties in Te Aroha flooded, 2 houses evacuated
Matarangi
10/06/2014 – Matarangi many fallen trees with unconfirmed reports of 3 Houses damaged.
Whitianga
10/06/2014 –Whitianga Unconfirmed reports – 3 houses with roof damage
Beach erosion issues at Buffalo Beach Road and Cooks Beach
Road Closures
State Highways
State Highway 26 (Te Aroha to Paeroa) is closed due to flooding. A detour is in place around Rawhiti Road
State Highway 29 (Kaimai Range) has reopened, with traffic management in place. Drive with caution
Broadway, Matamata (State Highway 24) has a number of large potholes. Drive with caution

The Te Aroha Footbridge is closed until further notice.

Port Charles Rd – Road open. Bridges open to light vehicles only. Repairs will be starting today at 12pm. Road will be
closed for periods while machinery working
Victoria St Thames – Ford closed due to flooding
Old Maratoto Rd - Ford Closed
Port Jackson/Fletchers Bay Rd – Road open up to 11km. Slip clearing continuing from there on, and also reports of bridge
damage. Transfield still unable to get to end of road to assess.

Matatoki water supply disrupted 12/096/2014 a water tanker was deployed to Matatoki Drive. WATER SUPPLY NOW RESTORED as
at 12/06/2014 21:00.
Waste Water
Te Aroha
10 properties on Waihou Road where the pump station was affected are still unable to use the wastewater system. Kaimai
Valley Services will be doorknocking today offering portaloos to those property owners. The issue is expected to be
resolved within 2-3 days.
