Waitemata
At 10am this morning Police were called to a residential property in Pooks Road, Ranui.
Upon arrival officers discovered the bodies of two women. Police are treating the incident as a double homicide.
A 55 year-old man, who is known to the victims, is the person who made the 111 call to Police. He was also at the scene when Police arrived. He is assisting Police with enquiries and no-one else is being sought.
The two women are believed to be related, but until they have been formally identified, no further details around their relationship are able to be confirmed. Formal identification is expected to take place in the next 24 hours, and Police expect to release the names of the victims once that has been done.
Post-mortem examinations will be conducted tomorrow, however early indications are that both women have suffered stab wounds.
A full scene examination is underway and is expected to take several days.
The victims' next of kin have been informed and are being supported by Victim Support.
