Successful conclusion to Atiamuri search
Police searching for two men in the Atiamuri area have located them safe and well at a rural property in the Tirohanga area, near Atiamuri.
The discovery was made at approximately 10.30am. It is understood that the two men had gone into the river initially yesterday afternoon but were able to get out of the river safely a short time later. They then made their way through bush to the property where they have now been located.
Inspector Sarah Stewart said: “We are extremely pleased with this successful outcome. Regardless of the events that led up to this operation we had genuine concerns for their welfare and finding them safe and well has been our priority and focus throughout.”
The two men, aged 20, have been taken into police custody and the men’s families have been advised.
